Flames engulf Iran after US and Israeli strikes on oil depots
Tehran’s skies were bathed in an ominous red hue as US and Israeli forces launched coordinated attacks on key oil depots within the Iranian capital, escalating tensions in the Middle East. The assault, which occurred late last night, left large portions of the city smoldering and filled with a sharp, acrid odor. Residents described the scene as surreal, with towering plumes of orange fire lighting up the night, creating a stark contrast to the usual urban landscape.
The strikes marked a significant escalation in the ongoing conflict, with both nations demonstrating a commitment to dismantle Iran’s military capabilities. The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) confirmed the targeting of multiple fuel storage complexes in Tehran as part of a broader strategy to weaken the regime’s infrastructure. These attacks were part of a ‘major operation’ aimed at disrupting Iran’s ability to sustain its military efforts.
“At some point, I don’t think there will be anybody left maybe to say ‘We surrender’,” said US President Donald Trump during a press briefing aboard Air Force One. His remarks underscored the potential for the conflict to reach a decisive phase, with the possibility of Iran’s leadership being eliminated or its military capacity crippled.
Iran responded swiftly, launching a series of attacks on neighboring countries including Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and Dubai. While the strikes caused damage to two skyscrapers, a single fatality was reported due to shrapnel from an intercepted missile. The nation’s deputy defense minister reaffirmed Iran’s readiness to continue its defense efforts, stating that its stockpiles of bombs, drones, and missiles remain fully operational.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of Israel echoed Trump’s determination, vowing to persist in the war until the Iranian regime is eradicated. In a televised address, he emphasized Israel’s control over Tehran’s airspace, claiming that the nation’s military had achieved dominance after a week of relentless operations. “We will continue with all our force,” he declared, promising further strikes against Iran’s strategic assets.
The National Iranian Oil Company confirmed that depots in Tehran and the Alborz province were among the targets hit by the aerial assaults. State media attributed the damage to a joint attack by the US and the “Zionist regime,” highlighting the strategic importance of these facilities for fueling the capital and surrounding regions. The IDF also targeted two missile production sites in Parchin and Shahrud, which are central to Iran’s development of ballistic weapons.
On social media, the IDF highlighted the scale of its operations, stating that hundreds of Israeli Air Force fighter jets had struck Iran’s production industries over the past week. These strikes, according to military officials, were part of a systematic effort to cripple Iran’s ability to manufacture and deploy advanced weaponry. The conflict shows no signs of slowing down as both sides prepare for the next phase of hostilities.
