Woman Killed in Dog Attack at Locally Named House
A 19-year-old woman, identified as Jamie-Lea Biscoe, died after being attacked by a dog at her home in Leaden Roding, Essex. The incident occurred on Friday at 22:45 BST when police were called to Long Hide, a house in the village near Dunmow. Upon arrival, responders found the victim with severe injuries, though efforts to save her were unsuccessful, with her declared dead at the scene.
Essex Police arrested a 37-year-old man from Dunmow, suspecting him of being responsible for the dog’s dangerous behavior that led to the fatal injury. The canine was confiscated, and specialist officers secured the area to ensure safety. A police cordon remained in place around the house throughout the weekend.
“This incident will be a shock to the local community. My thoughts, and those of all at Essex Police, are with the woman’s family and loved ones,” said Assistant Chief Constable Stuart Hooper. He added that detectives are examining the events to determine the exact circumstances.
The force is seeking public assistance, urging anyone with insights, surveillance footage, or dashcam recordings to contact them. The case is listed as incident 1419 from April 10. Meanwhile, St Michael and All Angels church in the village plans to hold a prayer session and light candles at Sunday afternoon’s service as a tribute to the victim.
