In December, a judge quashed the summons against Hunter, ruling that the prosecution was “abusive” and had been motivated by a desire to see the comedian “cancelled.” The judge noted that the Campaign Against Antisemitism was seeking to use the criminal justice system for “improper reasons” and criticized their case summary as “wholly inadequate.” The court found that the summary had “misled” the judge into believing Hunter’s comments were directed at Heidi Bachram’s involvement with the Jewish faith, rather than being his response to attempts to have him removed from public life.
