Alison Hammond Opens Up About Romance and Future Plans with David Puttnam
Traveloasisspot.com – The beloved This Morning presenter has finally shared her thoughts on the possibility of tying the knot with her significantly younger partner. Alison Hammond, aged 51, has been in a relationship with 28-year-old David Puttnam since they first connected through her role as his client in 2023. The couple made their romance public in April of the following year, and since then, fans have been eagerly following their love story.
Hammond has been open about how naturally their relationship has developed. Speaking to The Mirror, she expressed her contentment with their current dynamic. “I’ve got a lovely man in my life,” she shared. “It’s just easy. I think that’s when you know you’ve got something special. He just sees me for who I am. We choose each other, every day.”
Addressing the Age Gap
With a 22-year difference between them, it was only natural that public opinion would form around their relationship. Hammond has been remarkably unbothered by the scrutiny. “It’s nothing to do with anyone else. Yeah, people are going to talk. People do. But that’s their business, not mine,” she explained when reflecting on the backlash.
She has previously been vocal about dismissing the “toyboy” label that some have applied to Puttnam. “I can see how, on paper, you’d notice the age difference. But honestly, when we see the word ‘toyboy’ written about us, it bears no relation to what we have at all,” she told Good Housekeeping UK in December 2024. “Yes, I’m 22 years older than he is, but if you saw us together, you’d understand. People have said to me, ‘We get it now.'”
Hammond also highlighted the complementary nature of their personalities. “He’s so mature and sensible, and I’m so not. And the things he says to me… they’re just so lovely. It’s like a jigsaw; we fit and it all comes together.”
Wedding Bells or Not?
When asked directly about marriage, Hammond revealed her current stance. “I don’t think [there will be a wedding]. We don’t need to! We’re both cool,” the Great British Bake Off host stated. However, she left the door open for the future. Back in December, she admitted that while she “doesn’t need a ring” to demonstrate her love for Puttnam, if he did propose then it “wouldn’t be a no”.
The couple is believed to reside in a greater London suburb. Hammond relocated from her long-time home near Birmingham to a new house in March 2024, making the move to be closer to the capital for her filming commitments.
A Remarkable Weight Loss Journey
Alongside her romantic life, Hammond has also been making headlines for her impressive physical transformation. Last year, she revealed her 11 stone weight loss, a journey that has been nothing short of inspirational. The presenter, who weighed 28 stone at her heaviest, successfully reduced her weight to 16 and a half stone. This remarkable achievement also allowed her to reverse a pre-diabetic diagnosis through her dedication to fitness and diet.
Hammond has been transparent about her approach, explaining that she avoided weight loss injections despite hearing “scare stories” and feeling too “frightened” to try them. Instead, she committed to four fitness sessions a week with a personal trainer alongside a healthier diet. “I’ve got a personal trainer – she’s amazing, she trains me when I can train,” she previously told Heat. “If I’m working, I don’t train, I’ll go for a walk. But when I’m at home, I’ll go and have a session with her in the morning, just an hour. It might be four days a week.”
Her transformation followed years of ups and downs with her weight, including undergoing a gastric band in 2007, which she later had removed after her body rejected it. Today, Hammond appears to be thriving in both her personal and professional life, embracing love on her own terms while maintaining her health and wellbeing.
