Katie Price Reacts to Kids’ Emotional Documentary Interview
Reality Star Opens Up About Children’s Pain During Drug Binges
Traveloasisspot.com – Katie Price has shared her feelings after watching her children Junior and Princess cry while discussing her past struggles with substance abuse. The reality TV star recently viewed footage of her two children becoming emotional about growing up during her period of intense drug dependency in the late 2010s.
The revelations came through Sky’s documentary “Katie Price: Nothing To Hide,” which examines the public crisis the model experienced several years ago. Now 48, the mother of five opened up about how she never fully understood the depth of suffering her children endured while she battled depression and cocaine addiction following her marriage to Kieran Hayler.
Children Recall Neglected Childhood
At the height of Price’s struggles, Junior was 13 and Princess was 10. The siblings found themselves navigating daily life largely on their own, without the maternal guidance they desperately needed during those formative years.
“That was probably the most difficult time of my life, our lives,” Junior reflected, while Princess concurred: “I didn’t know what was going on and I couldn’t talk to mum about it because she wasn’t there.”
Junior continued to describe how his mother’s physical presence didn’t always mean emotional availability. “And when she was there, she wasn’t there, and we as siblings just kind of looked after each other. I remember me trying to figure out if food was microwavable to feed us for dinner.”
Princess shared a poignant memory about finding comfort in small gestures. “She’d give me a blanket and spray her perfume on it and that was my attachment to her. I used to go home and feel so lonely I would just cuddle the blanket and cry.”
The teenager also recalled a particularly frightening moment when his mother returned home under the influence. “I missed her so much. I was in her bed waiting for her to come back and I woke up 3.30am to loud noises. She came in the room, I’ll never forget the look on her face. She was obviously on stuff and it scared me, I’d never seen my mum like this.”
“That’s when I started seeing the same pattern and her falling down the same hole. When she wasn’t in the right head space she really wasn’t and she wasn’t being a mum. The mum that I knew from when I was a little boy, the amount of love she gave me was so immense, that’s what I missed so much.”
Junior explained that he eventually recognized the unhealthy situation and made a conscious decision to remove himself. “Mum was on drugs and she couldn’t look after us and that was the reality of it. Then I got fed up and clocked this was a very unhealthful environment and I needed to get out.”
At just 14 years old, Junior chose to live with his father, Peter Andre, a decision he credits with helping him recover his mental well-being. “Thank God my dad was stable,” he said, noting that his father’s consistency helped him “get his sanity back.”
Price’s Emotional Response and Realization
Upon learning about her children’s candid interview, Price took to her Instagram Story to share an article capturing their powerful testimony. The headline read: “‘She wasn’t a mum’: Junior and Princess break down in tears as they open up on Katie Price’s darkest days: ‘She couldn’t look after us.'”
While appearing on “This Morning” on Wednesday, Price expressed genuine surprise at how much her children had suffered during her breakdown. “I never knew [what they went through] because obviously I wanted to kill myself and I did try,” she explained.
“That period of my life, I don’t think people realise when I said I had a breakdown, I wanted to die, I didn’t want to be here. And so as much as I thought I was being a mum, I wasn’t. I was vacant. For young kids like that wanting their mum. I was trying to be the perfect mum and obviously I wasn’t. It kills me I put them through that.”
Price, who is currently married to businessman Lee Andrews, also shared her thoughts on the documentary’s upcoming release. “People will see my darkest days in my doc out tomorrow,” she captioned her Instagram post.
She acknowledged that her children had approached the interview with courage and transparency. “They are amazing. And when they done the interview, they said: ‘Mum if we’re going to do this, we’re going to be brutally honest.'”
Recovery and Moving Forward Together
The model has made significant progress in her journey toward recovery. After attempting suicide in 2021, Price committed to getting help and rebuilding her relationship with her children. She has spoken openly about her ongoing recovery process and the importance of being present for her family.
Looking ahead, Price expressed hope that her children’s willingness to share their story publicly would help others facing similar challenges. “If my story can help even one person, then it’s worth it,” she said during her television appearance.
